The Darfur Diaspora Collective was created in response to the ongoing marginalization of Darfur within both national and international conversations about Sudan. Despite being one of the regions most impacted by violence and displacement, Darfur is often excluded from broader narratives and policy discussions.
This pattern of exclusion is shaped by historical and structural inequalities, including anti-Blackness within Sudan. In the current war, Darfur continues to face severe violence with little attention or support, reinforcing a long-standing dynamic of neglect.
As members of the Darfuri diaspora, we saw a need to organize and create space for our community to be heard and engaged. The Collective aims to connect people across generations and borders, gather and share knowledge, and make sure that Darfur is recognized as central to Sudan’s future, not treated as a marginal issue.
MISSION
Our mission is to amplify the voices and concerns of the Darfur community, both locally and globally, in order to advocate for justice, transform public discourse, and mobilize support.
